Florida Gulf Coast University released a statement on Sunday saying a non-housing student in the Bower School of Music and Arts tested positive for COVID-19.
The statement from FGCU's President, Mike Martin says the student is isolated. Martin adds other Bower students shared space with the student, and at this time, there are no additional positive cases, even though some students reported they are being tested.
According to the statement, the student was last on FGCU campus this past Tuesday, April 7th, in the Bower building. Martin says due to this information, the Bower building and the Bower modular are closed for cleaning.
He also says the school is working with the Florida Department of Health to conduct a contact tracing process to determine who has been exposed to the student.
