FGCU men, women make the postseason

Posted

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The NCAA announced the field of 68 for the men’s tournament Sunday night, and sadly, the FGCU Eagles didn’t make the cut.

But, their season isn’t over: they’re a 7 seed in the National Invitational Tournament, or NIT.
They’ll play the Oklahoma State Cowboys Tuesday night.

The Eagles automatically got a NIT invitation as the ASUN regular-season champions.

While the men’s team missed the big dance though, the women’s team didn’t—they’re in the tourney after a 68-58 win over the University of Jacksonville in the A-SUN championship game.

It’s the second straight season the Green and Blue have clinched the conference’s automatic berth, it’s also the fifth time they’ve done it in the past seven years.

The team does not know who they will play or what seed they’ll be; the NCAA will announce the seeds and matchups tonight.
