ESTERO, Fla — An investigation is underway after a Florida Gulf Coast University student reported a sexual assault in their dorm room.
The University Police Department says it happened Tuesday night in a South Village dorm room.
The victim told investigators they met the suspect through a social media dating app, and they both went to the dorm room of the victim.
Investigators say the suspect is not believed to be affiliated with FGCU.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation.
