CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal accident involving a pedestrian and dog on US 41 Tamiami Trail Friday night.
Troopers say the pedestrian was in the median of US 41, attempting to cross the southbound lanes with his dog.
Officials say the vehicle struck the pedestrian and the dog. Troopers say the pedestrian and dog died at the scene.
Florida Highway Patrol says the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. Troopers say the scene remains under investigation.
