HIGHLANDS COUNTY, Fla. -- One man has died after troopers say he crashed his pickup truck into a moving Amtrak train.
It happened on U.S. 98 at the intersection of Cowhouse Road in Highlands County. That's east of Sebring near the community of Lorida.
Florida Highway Patrol says the railroad crossing arms were down when Efrem Gibson tried to drive across. The 54 year-old from Avon Park then hit the train and died on scene.
FHP says four people on the train, which was traveling from Miami to New York, received minor injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
