LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A pedestrian lying flat at the left turn lane of an intersection was hit and killed by a driver Saturday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the driver was traveling westbound on Crystal Drive, approaching a red light at the intersection of US-41, South Cleveland Avenue.
Authorities say the pedestrian was lying prone on the left turn lane, and the wheels of the car struck the pedestrian. Troopers say the pedestrian was transported to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
Florida Highway Patrol says the incident is under investigation.
