Marco Island and East Naples firefighters responded to a fire at the Marco Town Center Wednesday night.
The fire started in a dry cleaning business, and although the flames were contained to that business; smoke caused damage to neighboring stores.
"Our thermal imagery was giving us readings anywhere from 800 to 1,000 degrees inside," said Capt. Dustin Beatty with Marco Island Fire.
No one was hurt in the fire, but Andonino Coppola's daughter was hospitalized for smoke inhalation. She works at the yogurt shop Coppola owns next door.
"She kind of started smelling smoke. She was serving customers, and as soon as she started seeing smoke outside the windows she called 911," said Coppola.
No word on what caused the fire. Several businesses are expected to remain closed Thursday from the damage.
