FORT MYERS, Fla. – A fire sparked at a restaurant in Fort Myers early Tuesday morning.

Fire crews were called to the Skyline Chili on Cleveland Avenue.

The Fort Myers Fire battalion chief, David Jacobs said the Skyline Chili sign caught on fire. He said the wiring from the sign caught some plywood on fire. It caused there to be smoke inside three businesses. Skyline Chili, the Crab Hut seafood restaurant and a smoker shop were affected.

Firefighters ventilated all three businesses and there’s little to no damage inside them.

Battalion chief Jacobs said the only damage is to the Skyline Chili sign.

The delivery man for Skyline Chili said he saw smoke coming from the restaurant at around 3:30 AM. He was the person who called 911.

Officials said no was inside at the time.

Crews killed the power to part of the strip plaza. They said the power should be back on soon and the businesses should be okay to reopen Tuesday.
