First subtropical storm of the season named

The first named storm of the season has developed.

The National Hurricane Center was monitoring a disturbance in the Atlantic near Bermuda. This disturbance as of Monday afternoon, May 20th has developed into a subtropical cyclone.

Subtropical storm Andrea is expected to turn north and eventually northeast as it gets caught up in westerly flow that will increase across the Atlantic by mid-week.

There will NO threat to the eastern U.S. or Florida.
