CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- State leaders and FEMA are holding meetings this week to talk to residents about new flood insurance rate maps in Charlotte County.
The maps are preliminary, but will be used to determine flood insurance premiums and building requirements.
Specialists and subject matter experts will be on hand to meet one-on-one and discuss flood risk, flood insurance, appeals, mitigation options, as well as the engineering behind the flood insurance study. The public can stop by at any time.
You'll have the opportunity to see the differences between the flood maps from 2003 and the new ones.
