TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Florida Forest Service has issued a statement declaring their support of firefighting efforts in the devastating Australia fires.
The statement declares that Florida's wildland firefighters are exceptionally well-trained and stand ready to answer the call to support fire suppression in Australia.
"Our hearts are with the people impacted and threatened in Australia as well as our fellow firefighters battling the catastrophic wildfires," writes director Jim Karels.

They explain that international wildfire resource requests must go through the National Interagency Fire Center in Idaho, and if federal fire agencies are unable to fill the requests, local fire resources will be contacted to help.
