Florida Highway Patrol arrests man for hit-and-run in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla — Florida Highway Patrol says they have arrested a man for a hit-and-run in Charlotte County, resulting in serious injury.

Troopers say on November 16th; they responded to a hit-and-run crash on US 41 and Dahlgren Avenue with a serious injury.

They say the driver of the vehicle was traveling southbound on US 41 and recklessly crossed onto the northbound lanes.

It ended up colliding with a motorcycle and drove away.

The motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital.

After weeks of investigating, Troopers discovered a 2016 Honda Accord with a Pennsylvania License Tag on December 3rd.

It was parked at a home on Marco Island, Florida, and the Honda owner was cooperative.

Troopers discovered a transporter company was hired to drive the Honda from the owner’s home in Pennsylvania to the home on Marco Island.

They also discovered the front portion of the Honda had been repaired, and the Honda was returned to the owner late on November 19th.

Troopers say there was no obvious damage, but they determined the vehicle was the hit-and-run vehicle upon further examination.

22-year-old Joseph Borisovich Dolbun of North Port was arrested on December 16th.

He's charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious injury, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, tampering with evidence, and grand theft auto.
