FORT MYERS, Fla. --- The Florida Highway Patrol held its operation Pedestrian Education and Developing Safety (P.E.D.S) on Monday.
Patrol officers were on State Road 78 between Old 41 and Pondella Road from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m., passing out educational flyers, installing bicycle lights/reflectors, reflective vest, wristbands and other safety material to those in need,
The purpose of this operation was to help decrease the amount of injuries and deaths among pedestrians and bicyclist.
Troopers also stopped numerous drivers for not properly stopping before turning right at a red light.
