TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – While Florida is not one of the states voting on Super Tuesday on March 3rd, our presidential primary is coming up fast.

Florida’s presidential primary will be March 17th. And to take part, you have to be registered to vote by February 18th.

The primary election for local and statewide races, is August 18th.

Because Florida has a closed primary system, you can only vote for candidates in the party you're registered to vote for. So if you're a registered Republican, you can only vote in the Republican primary.

The general election is on November 3rd.

If you're not sure if you are registered to vote, or which party you are registered with, you can get help by going to the Florida Division of Elections website.
