Food truck Friday: Triple B BBQ

Posted

LEE COUNTY, Fla.-- There's a food truck serving up smokey meats and even some options for vegetarians.

The Triple B BBQ is a family owned truck from North Port. It's been operating since April 2016. Matt Ashley started his business after he stopped working for his wife. Matt's son also helps him run the truck.

Triple B BBQ specializes in traditional southern dishes and sides like sweet and spicy coleslaw, beans and potato salad.

Matt says people can be intimidated with making brisket because it take long to cook and it's expensive. You have to make sure you cut against the grain. There are two muscles in a brisket; a flat muscle and a point muscle. The brisket is their most popular menu item.

The truck also offers a smoked Portobello mushroom burger for vegetarians or people who don't want to eat red meat. If you want to make the burger at home, season it, grill it until it's tender and top it with coleslaw.

Triple B BBQ is available for catering, private parties and breweries. They can feed up to 1,000 people. Menu prices vary from $8 to $25.
