CHARLOTTE CO., Fla.-- A trial start date has still not been set in the manslaughter trial of a former Punta Gorda police officer.
However, on Thursday, August 31st during a case management hearing for Lee Coel, a judge ordered all evidence in the case be in by January 30th, 2018. The trial should start sometime after that.
Coel is accused of killing a woman during a citizen’s police academy class last August.
The case management hearing taking place, shortly after the city announced Punta Gorda Police Chief Tom Lewis was fired.
