LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Former Lee County Sheriff Rodney Shoap is asking the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to investigate Sheriff Carmine Marceno's qualifications.

Shoap sent a letter to the FDLE commissioner two weeks ago, stating when Marceno applied to work in Florida, he lied on an official form saying he had worked full time in another state when he was a part-time park ranger.

Shoap also alleges Marceno failed the state's certification exam multiple times.

FDLE responded to this letter saying they have received reports of these allegations in the past and are currently reviewing the matter.
