FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fort Myers Police responded to two different calls about possible child neglect.

Officers responded to the first incident on DeLeon Street, where a four-year-old was found wandering around outside an apartment complex.

As management and police were trying to locate parents, a nineteen-year-old female identified herself as the parent.

Dionna Drake told police she locked the child in the apartment while she went for a job interview.

Next, FMPD officers responded to a call at the Edison Mall.

Security told police that two children and dogs were left in a parked vehicle alone.

The children were three and six years old.

The father Eli Jacob Grady, 37, approached the vehicle on his way back from the mall and identified himself as the children’s father.

Grady explained to the police while waiting to pick up the children’s mother he went into the mall to use the restroom.

Both Dionna Drake and Eli Grady were arrested for neglecting children without great harm.
