FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The former News Press building in downtown Fort Myers has a new owner.

According to a warranty deed, the building on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard was sold to the City of Fort Myers on December 12th.

The Fort Myers Police Department wants to make this their new headquarters.

The city got the building for a discounted price after discovering there was petroleum contamination, which will take two years and cost between $60,000 and $115,000 to clean up.
