LEE COUNTY, Fla.-- Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) has announced its plan to install more than 30 million solar panels in the state of Florida by 2030. That is the largest installation of solar panels by a regulated utility in the world.
The “30-by-30” plan will generate energy that is 67 percent cleaner that the national average and make Florida a world leader in solar energy production.
FPL is the sunshine state’s largest solar producer – generating ten times as much solar power in 2018 than it did in 2016. FPL operates five solar power plants in our area in Charlotte, DeSoto and Hendry counties.
