FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. --- The Friends of Lovers Key will be hosting its 13th Annual Lovers Key Turtle Trot and Family Fun Day on Saturday.

The race will be held at Lovers Key State Park, 8700 Estero Boulevard beginning at 7 a.m.

The 5K Run and Walk will take runners through a shady maritime hammock ecosystem on a hard packed shell path. The race will end at the beach pavilion, where refreshments will be served and awards will be presented.

Organizers have also set up a children's race for kids of all ages, a hula hoop contest and other children related activities hosted by the Bonita Springs Shell Club.

All race participants are required to pay a registration fee starting at $35 for adults and $25 for youth. All proceeds will benefit the Friends of Lovers Key, Inc., a volunteer non-profit group that raises money to help protect, preserve and support Lovers Key State Park.

Each participant will receive race packets that include official Lovers Key Turtle Trot 5K T-shirt, official race number, course may and general instructions. T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 500 registered participants and shirt sizes are subject to availability.
