Florida Fish and Wildlife recently set a trap in the Sandoval community in Cape Coral after many reports of bear sightings.
With school just around the corner, parents told us they're concerned about their kids walking to bus stops early in the morning, especially because that seems to be the time when the bear appears.
"If it does come out and and we're all out and about going to work and getting our kids to school and everything like that then yeah, something needs to be done," said Sandoval resident Nicole Kerr.

We contacted FWC and asked them what they're doing in order to keep this community safe.
David Telesco, the Bear Management Program Coordinator with FWC said, "We have an active trapping effort right now and so given what's going on out there, we're pretty confident that we can catch the bear."
He also said kids who are waiting for the bus stop should be aware, but not afraid. The bear won't typically approach people because they're just looking for food.
We saw that trap located outside Holly Barnhart's, who's seen the bear near her yard twice.
According to FWC, if the bear isn't caught the first time, they have other options of catching the bear, including other kinds of traps. They say public safety is their first concern.
