CAPE CORAL, Fla., - Residents in Cape Coral are claiming that a local garbage truck has been leaving more garbage for them to clean up. They say they witnessed a Waste Pro truck drive through their neighborhood with garbage leaking, leaving a trail of trash.
"It's disgusting," said Linda Kordecki. "It'll turn your stomach."
"It was an awful, nasty, pungent, toxic smell," said Andraea Kordecki.
Some residents are even feeling trapped in their homes and forced to use masks outside because of the smell.
Andraea Kordecki says the smell has lingered since Tuesday. Instead of stopping to clean it up, Kordecki says Waste Pro workers kept driving.
"You could just see the trail. It goes all the way up and down the street."
A trail of garbage left to rot in the hot sun.
Friday, you could still see the discoloration and debris on the street.
"It's a disgrace that they would do something like that to a neighborhood just cause they don't live here," Andraea Kordecki said.
4 In Your Corner reached out to Waste Pro officials Friday to get answers for the neighborhood. A spokesperson told Tony Sadiku he would look into it.
As of Friday evening, residents say no one has come to clean up their roads.
"We want to be able to breathe and not have hazardous waste on our roads," said Linda Kordecki.
