FORT MYERS, Fla. — Lee Health, in partnership with Be the Match, is holding a bone marrow drive to support JaKobe “Kobe” Washington a local eight-year-old boy who is diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Because Kobe is African American he has a 23% chance of finding a match.
The process to see if a person is a match for Kobe is simple, and you don't even have to leave the car – just drive up, swab your cheek and place the sealed kit in the drop-off box.
The drive will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Golisano Children’s Hospital, 9981 S. Healthpark Dr., in Fort Myers. Please stop by parking area B3-4 (map below)
Be the Match is a nonprofit that services the largest marrow registry in the U.S. with more than twenty million potential blood stem cell donors.
