FLA. — Gov. Ron DeSantis has officially made the new name for the Gulf of Mexico a a law.
The Florida governor signed two bills Monday, to ensure the name "Gulf of America," according to his office.
The legislation will do two things: One bill changes statutory references in Florida law which refer to that body of water along Florida’s west coast to the new name. The second bill will require educational materials to use the term “Gulf of America."
