FORT MYERS, Fla.-- Governor Rick Scott visited Southwest Florida on Monday, speaking about job growth under his administration.
The governor toured "Stevens Construction," a healthcare and commercial construction management firm.
Governor Scott says the company has grown from 18 employees in 2011 to nearly 50 now. He claims since taking office, Florida has created more than 1.4 million jobs.
"The day I got elected 44% of homes were under water and the mortgages. Working with the legislature we've cut taxes 75 times, we've cut 5,000 regulations, we've cut over $7 billion in taxes," said Governor Scott.
The governor says Southwest Florida added more than 6,000 jobs over the year- 4,000 in the Naples area and 2,000 in the Fort Myers area.
