NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Eagle nest watchers were rejoicing Tuesday at the sight of a new egg on the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam.
Harriet laid the egg just before 5 p.m. Tuesday. That's the earliest she's laid an egg on record, beating last year's early egg by four days.
That has watchers of the hugely popular web cam hoping for more eggs in coming days. Some are even hoping for three eggs this season.
The eagle nest is in a tree on the North Fort Myers property of Dick Pritchett Real Estate, which first began live streaming the nest to the world in 2012. Harriet has produced two eggs every season since then; first with mate Ozzie, then with new mate M15 since 2015, when Ozzie passed away.
