CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Lee County has issues a cautionary health advisory for Boris Canal in Cape Coral due to "algae observations".
According to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, an algal bloom has been found in the Makai Canalas well.
DOH-Lee recommends that people avoid contact with the water when algae is present.
Blue-green algae can impact the gastrointestinal system if swallowed.
