A Fort Myers Elementary school teacher was honored Thursday as one of Governor Rick Scott's Shine Awards winners.
Katie Riemenschneider is the International Baccalaureate World School's IB Coordinator at Heights Elementary School and teaches lessons to students in kindergarten through 5th grade. She serves on the district's Advisor Committee to the Superintendent and is a member of the Florida Lead Network.
Riemenschneider is also Lee County’s Teacher of the Year for 2017. Now in her 23rd year of teaching Riemenschneider says, “While I’m so grateful for this recognition I feel that I represent all the amazing teachers in Lee County who do their best every day.”
Governor Scott says, “It’s great to see Florida educators committed to providing every student with the opportunity to get a quality education in our state. We will continue our work to ensure they have the tools they need to help their students be successful in the classroom.”
