The historic Arcade Theatre sign lit up Friday night after a long hiatus.
The nearly 80-year-old sign could be seen atop First Street in the heart of Downtown Fort Myers for the first time in nearly 3 decades.
The Arcade Theatre was built in 1915 by Fort Myers, Florida businessman Harvie Heitman and his brother Gilmer. Originally, the theatre hosted vaudeville, magic acts and plays. By 1917 it started playing moving pictures.
People who played a role in the the lighting as well as the public gathered outside for a night filled with fun.
