LEE COUNTY, Fla. — So far, over 300,000 people have voted by mail in Southwest Florida, and election officials are still anticipating thousands more will roll in before Tuesday's 7 p.m deadline.
If you already submitted your vote-by-mail ballot, you can track its status online.
“When we sent it, when we received it, and when it was voted or if there was a problem with it,” said Tommy Doyle, Lee County Supervisor of Elections.
Election officials say it’s relatively easy.
You’ll first need to go onto your supervisor of elections website and click on a link called “check my vote-by-mail ballot status” or "track my vote-by-mail ballot."
There, enter your name and birthday, and once logged in, go to “upcoming elections” and look for your ballot status.
“That is how we want people to track their ballot, don’t go to the polls just to see what your status is because all you’re going to do is help create a line and some confusion,” said Trish Robertson, Public Relations Officer, Collier County Supervisor of Elections."
If there is an issue with your vote-by-mail ballot, election officials say it'll tell you in the status section.
“It would show if there’s a deficiency like an omitted signature or a mismatched signature, it would say on that site,” said Doyle.
If the status indicates your ballot was referred to the canvassing board, you do have time to fix it.
“There is a cure process, and they have two-days after elections day to fix that,” said Robertson.
If it's been several weeks since you mailed your ballot in and it's still not showing that it's been received, you can vote in person during Election Day.
