IMMOKALEE, Fla. -- An Immokalee man is facing numerous charges after an overnight police pursuit that left a trail of damage.

21-year-old Gilmer Morales-Guox remains in custody in the Collier County Jail.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, a deputy responded to a call of a driver swerving on the roadway, nearly hitting other vehicles and drinking.

The deputy attempted to pull over the driver, later identified as Morales-Guox.  Instead, he accelerated away and turned onto Immokalee Drive.

That's when Morales-Guox lost control of the van, driving off the right side of the roadway, then crossing to the left across all lanes., then back right again before hitting a building in the 100 block of Immokalee Drive.

Morales-Guox backed up and accelerated again, nearly hitting another vehicle before hitting a mailbox, fence, and power pole in the 1100 block of Immokalee Drive.  The power pole was sheared in half and fell to the ground.

The van continued to hit two more vehicles and then a fence, which caused damage to another vehicle.

"I was inside when I heard the impact," said David Carrillo, who owns the home and two of the trucks damaged in the crash.

Carrillo said he believes having his red Ford F-250 parked in front of his home prevented even worse damage. "That truck...saved our house," he said.

Morales-Guox, who was somehow uninjured in the crash, was removed from the van and participated in DUI testing before being arrested

Morales-Guox is facing charges of Fleeing to Elude Causing Property Damage, Fleeing to Elude with Disregard to Persons, DUI 1st Offense, DUI with Property Damage (3 counts), Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, Leaving the Scene of a Crash, and Failure to have Liability Insurance.
