UPDATE (10:30 AM) -- Police say a speeding car crossed over the median on Veterans Parkway Monday night, colliding with a car headed the other way.
It happened shortly after 11 p.m. Monday near the intersection with SW 20th Avenue.
According to Cape Coral Police, a Buick car was headed westbound at a high rate of speed with another unidentified vehicle. The car's driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered onto the center median and went airborne. The car hit a tree in the median and continued onto the westbound lanes, where it struck a westbound Subaru car.
The Buick's driver, Jahri Marcus, sustained minor injury and was taken to Lee Memorial.
The Subaru's driver, Heather Richards, was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital with life threatening injuries in stable condition. Richards was found to have a medical BAC of .287, more than three times the legal limit of .080.
The crash remains under investigation.

The crash happened Monday night at the corner of Southwest 20th Avenue.
All lanes on Veterans Parkway were shut down, but are back open now.
Cape Police haven't said what caused the crash, but their forensics unit was on scene investigating. They did say the crash caused serious injuries.
