CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — A 57-year-old inmate was found unresponsive in his cell at the Charlotte County Jail Saturday night, the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said.
Doug Gow was found alone, unresponsive in his cell with a piece of fabric around his neck.
The sheriff's office said staff immediately began life-saving measures as Charlotte County EMS were headed to the jail, however, they were unable to revive the man.
Major Crimes detectives are on scene conducting interviews and investigating the incident, according to the sheriff's office.
