JetBlue Park in need of repairs, funding approved by Lee County

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- At Tuesday's Lee County Commissioners meeting, the board is expected to talk about just how much more money is needed to repair JetBlue Park.

The engineering firm in charge of the repairs says additional problems need to be fixed.

The additions will add $130,000 to the budget. It'll cost $1.6 million in total.

It will be funded by tourist development tax dollars.

UPDATE (10:30 AM) -- The Lee Board of County Commissioners today to approve some maintenance repairs and renovations to JetBlue Park on Tuesday.

Lee County officials say recent inspections have noted cracks in the concrete typical with settling, as well as repairs needed due to normal wear. The ballpark opened in February 2012.

The work is to begin after the 2020 spring training season.
