Large fire damages trailer park

Posted
Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire that destroyed a warehouse on the banks of the Caloosahatchee.

Crews were called out to West North Shore Avenue Wednesday.

"I heard a boom," said Glenn Rosine.

Rosine lives in a trailer park right next to the warehouse.  The fire destroyed his trailer, he was able to escape with his dog.

"I did get Lulu, and I tried to help this gentleman, I went into his house, to get his cat, but he lost his cat., that's why my face is all smudgy."

Another man also lost several vehicles, tools and equipment stored in the building.  Longtime residents say the metal building dates back to the 50's and once served as a sea plane terminal.

Glenn says he tried using a garden hose to save his home, but it was no match for the fire.  He's grateful that he made it out alive with his dog.

"I could camp in the woods.  It don't bother me, except for Lulu."

Red Cross volunteers were on site to help those affected by the fire.  The cause is still under investigation.
