LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Fox 4 has learned that a man has been arrested on DUI and hit and run charges after an early morning crash in Fort Myers.

This happened around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday on Pine Avenue and Palm Beach Boulevard in the Alva community.

Lee County deputies say 51-year-old Dennis Flint was taken into custody.

They aren't confirming any other information, but our crews on scene saw a chopper circling overhead with a light.

Four in Your Corner also saw a K-9 on the scene, a dodge truck badly damaged, and a person who appeared to be banging his head in the backseat of a deputy's car.

**UPDATE** -- Investigators say that Flint was the only person involved in this crash.

The determined that Flint was driving westbound on Palm Beach Boulevard in a reckless manner, according to witnesses.  Flint's pickup truck was seen swerving from lane to lane before careening into the grassy median and hitting a tree.

The truck then returned to the roadway and continued westbound before swerving back across the median and into the eastbound lanes.  The truck then swerved sharply and came to a stop partially on the median.

Flint was not immediately located at the scene, but was found by a K-9 unit hiding on a nearby property.

Deputies report that Flint acted disorderly and his speech was slow and slurred.

He was transported to the Lee County Jail, then taken to Lee Memorial Hospital to get medically cleared.

Medical staff reported Flint tested positive for Cannabis and Methamphetamine.
