LCSO: Suspect in connection to a 2018 homicide arrested

LEE COUNTY, Fla — The Lee County Sheriffs Office says they have arrested a man in connection to a 2018 homicide.

Investigators said on June 28th, 2018, LCSO deputies responded to a call on Payne Lane.

Deputies found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound outside of his home. The victim later died.

Investigators say deputies made contact with Roy Justin Jones when they were on the scene.

Major Crimes Detectives went through the evidence and conducted interviews and was able to establish probable cause.

The case was submitted to the State Attorney's Office to get an arrest warrant.

Jones was arrested on September 11th. He is charged with Second Degree Murder.

"My team works around the clock to bring criminals to justice," stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno.

"The time that has passed since this homicide was no match for our Major Crimes Unit. Our detectives are top-notch."
