LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A deputy in Lee County has been placed on administrative leave after an early morning arrest due to a domestic incident.

Deputy Adam Beissmann was arrested by Cape Coral Police on a battery charge early Monday morning.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office confirmed with Fox 4 that Beissmann has been placed on administrative leave.

According to a police report, Beissmann and his wife were having a heated argument around 9pm Sunday, when he pushed her to the ground by her shoulders and began throwing clothes at her.

The report says Beissmann left for about two hours to cool off, but when he returned they resumed arguing.  That’s when Beissmann pushed in a bathroom door, knocking his wife to the floor.

The wife did not require any medical attention, but based on a small mark on her knee, police say there was probable cause to arrest Beissmann for battery.
