LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Lee, Collier, and Charlotte County schools will observe a moment of silence at 10:17 Thursday morning in honor of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School one year ago.
Broward County Schools Superintendent, Robert Runcie, invited all 66 other Florida county schools to participate in the moment of silence with them, as a way to honor the 17 students and staff members who lost their lives and the 17 others who were injured.
Runcie said this is a way the entire education community can be a meaningful part of the ongoing process of healing by pausing for a moment to pay tribute to the victims, their families and the MSD High School community.
Broward County Public Schools has also designated February 14th as a day of service and love.
