UPDATE Feb. 11:
A Lehigh Acres man is facing multiple felony charges after Lee County deputies said he robbed a woman at gunpoint, then led law enforcement on a high-speed chase through Lee County and Cape Coral before barricading himself inside a Fort Myers home.
WATCH THE HIGH-SPEED CHASE HERE:
The Robbery
According to the police report, the incident began around 10:38 a.m. when deputies said Angel Perez went into a home on Golfview Boulevard in Lehigh Acres while the victim was sleeping.
Deputies said Perez woke the woman up and demanded money he claimed she owed him. When she refused, the sheriff's office said he pulled out a gun and demanded her cell phone, threatening to harm her if she didn't do it.
After snatching the phone from her hand, deputies said Perez forced her to unlock it while still showing the gun. He then accessed her Cashapp account and transferred money to himself before returning the phone and leaving, according to the arrest affidavit.
When Perez attempted to leave the property around 10:30 a.m., the victim confronted him in his black Lexus sedan, demanding he return the stolen money. Perez sped away at a high rate of speed, deputies said.

The Chase
Using the sheriff's office helicopter, Perez's car was spotted near Cleveland Avenue North and Littleton Road. When deputies tried to make a traffic stop, they said Perez refused to yield.
Perez continued fleeing "in a reckless manner," according to the report. LCSO said they stopped the pursuit for safety reasons, but the aviation unit maintained visual contact from above.
As Perez entered Cape Coral, police there attempted their own traffic stop. Instead of stopping, deputies said Perez drove recklessly at high speeds, drove up onto sidewalks, and traveled into oncoming traffic.
During the Cape Coral pursuit, deputies said Perez crashed into a police car, causing damage. Cape Coral officers terminated their chase when Perez crossed back into Fort Myers city limits.
The Standoff
At 12:16 p.m., deputies said the helicopter spotted Perez stopping his car near Canal Street and Highland Avenue. He exited briefly, pointed at the helicopter overhead, then got back in the car.
Two minutes later, Perez abruptly stopped at 3222 Stella Avenue in Fort Myers, fled into the home, and barricaded himself inside, the report said.
After roughly an hour, Perez surrendered — nearly two hours after the initial traffic stop attempt.
The Evidence
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home. Inside, deputies said they found two guns: a black Taurus GX4 9mm pistol and a black 5.56 rifle.
Because Perez is a convicted felon, possession of these weapons is illegal.
Detectives attempted to interview Perez, but they said he invoked his right to an attorney after being read his Miranda rights.
The Charges
Perez faces four felony charges:
- Robbery with a Firearm (Bond: $30,000)
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Fleeing and Eluding with Disregard to Safety
- Resisting Arrest Without Violence (Bond: $1,500)
