FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Fort Myers Police Department (FMPD) says two teens were arrested after crashing a car through a cemetery fence in Fort Myers on Thursday morning.

According to FMPD, officers responded to Cedarbend Drive in reference to homeowners watching two people stealing items from unlocked cars in the area.

The suspects fled in a white sedan out of the neighborhood.

Officers attempted a traffic stop but the suspects didn't pull over and eventually crashed through the fence at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens on Colonial Boulevard.

Investigators say the duo began knocking on doors in the area of Bates Circle.

This is where police caught up with both teens and took them to jail.

FMPD wants to remind people to lock their doors and remove valuable items from vehicles when left unattended.
