Body found in Caloosahatchee identified as missing Fort Myers man

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The body found in the Caloosahatchee River Friday evening has been identified as missing person Alexander Martinez, Lee County Sheriff's Office confirms.

Martinez, 81, was reported missing Wednesday afternoon.

He left his home on Marino Court on foot and did not tell anyone where he was going. LCSO considered Martinez missing and endangered.

His body was found in the water near Harbortown Lane, about five miles north of his home, around 4:45 p.m. Friday.

The Medical Examiner's Office is working to determine the manner and cause of death.
