LEE COUTY, Fla. — A Lee County deputy is being hailed as a hero after a plucky action taken during the dog days of summer.
According to the department's Facebook post, Deputy Allen Reddick went after a dog that had jumped into a mangrove swamp after getting away from its owners.
Reddick was able to jump into the swamp to rescue the dog, named Henna, and reunite her with her family.
Since posting the story on July 24, the social media post has garnered more than 200 comments and 240 shares commending the deputy for his actions.
