Firefighters helped with an unusual call for help on Thursday morning.

The crew was returning to the station from a medical call when they were flagged down by a motorist.

A python snaked its way inside the engine compartment of a truck.

The crew removed the snake and notified Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation.

FWC says the ball python is an escaped pet and they are attempting to find its owner.

An FWC Law Enforcement officer responded to this call to assist and confirmed it was a ball python located in the truck engine. The officer determined it was likely a pet that was loose; staff are trying to return it to its owner. We will be scanning the animal for a microchip to see if an owner can be identified; if an owner cannot be found, our biologists will house the animal until we can try and place it with an adopter through the FWC’s Exotic Pet Amnesty Program.
