LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Sheriff Carmine Marceno announced in a press conference on Saturday that Deputy Christopher Doughty was arrested for battery (domestic violence) and has been relieved of his law enforcement duties.
This came after deputies responded to a call about a domestic disturbance early Saturday morning.
The investigation is still open, but Sheriff Marceno said deputies had probable cause to arrest Doughty.
Doughty worked with LCSO for 14 years, 13 of those years being with the youth division in schools.
Sheriff Marceno said Doughty had minor disciplinary issues previously, but nothing that had majorly concerned the Sheriff's office before this incident.
