LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — The Lee County Sheriff's Office is at the scene of a deputy shooting in Lehigh Acres.
According to LCSO, they are investigating the incident near 22nd Street SW and Harlow Avenue South.
The Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to the area for a domestic
disturbance but at the time of arrival no crime had occurred.
Deputies were called back hours later and were told 28-year-old Thomas Carney fled the area with a gun.
LCSO says deputies tracked down Carney and he shot one of the deputies. Deputies fired back and killed the Carney.
According to LCSO a deputy was struck in the ballistic vest and is expected to be okay.
LCSO is also saying traffic and bus routes in the area will be affected as the morning progresses.
