SANIBEL, Fla. — After high levels of bacteria in the water prompted beach closures on Sanibel Island, Lighthouse Beach Park reopen Wednesday morning.
This update comes as Hurricane Idalia's impact lead to a swim advisory for public beaches and swimming pools in Lee County. Although Lighthouse Beach reopend, that advisory is still in affect.
Blind Pass and Turner Beach Park on Sanibel remain closed. The Florida Department of Health will release new test results from those beaches on Wednesday. The results will determine whether those beaches will remain closed or reopen.
