LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Luis Eduardo De Leon is Lee County’s first baby of 2020, coming a week ahead of schedule.

What started off as a typical New Year’s Eve for Julia De Leon and her boyfriend Luis turned into a trip to the emergency room.

De Leon’s original due date was January 7th. She said she was headed to her boyfriend’s mother’s house Tuesday night when she felt contractions.

They brought in the new year at Health Park Medical Center around midnight. Baby Luis Eduardo made his debut around 4:00 Wednesday morning weighing 6 lbs 9 oz.

De Leon said she was very surprised to know it was the first child born in the county.

She added Luis’s big brother Ezequiel was a good helper during labor, but the delivery wore the three-year-old out.

Even with all the local news cameras and commotion in the room, Ezequiel slept like a baby.

De Leon now has a quartet of all boys. But, she said Luis will be her last child.

She admits she was hoping for a little girl, but said she got exactly what god wanted her to have.
