July 15 is National I Love Horses Day, and some local law enforcement is giving a shout out to their four-legged members.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office says their mounted patrol is a critical part of their plan to keep you safe. You may have seen their horses during events or parades.
They say their trained steeds are also important in search and rescue operations and community policing.
And the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Agricultural Crimes Unit is reminding citizens to ensure the well-being of their equine friends.
They say horses costly to maintain and require regular attention. If you are unable to commit to the cost and effort required to properly care for a horse, it's best to avoid purchasing one.
